City of Leeds Diving to attend the CAMO Diving Event in Montreal between the 3rd and 6th December 2009. The team will consits of 18 Divers who will fly out to Canada to compete. For details of the event and results see below

The CAMO Diving Club event took place between the 3rd and 6th December in Montreal Canada. This event is one of the best international diving events in Canada and provides competitions for both Junior and Senior competitors.

CAMO is also home to some of Canada’s top divers including 2008 Olympic team members Alex Despaite, Megan Benifitto, Roslin Filon and Jennifer Abel.

The attending teams this year brought divers from USA, Mexico, New Zealand, Australia, Italy, Germany and Great Britain. This made for a great set of competitions over the four days.

Josh Dowd in the 3m was unlucky not to medal coming away with a 4th place finish. Alicia Blagg and Grace Reid both absolutely dominated the girls 12/13yrs springboard events taking the Gold and Silver in both events.

Grace won Gold on the 3m with Alicia winning the 1m with scores that look very promising for the international season ahead of them in 2010.

The main competition came from Monica Garvaris and Frederique Lalonde from the CAMO dive team. Jenny Cowen finished her junior career in style in the 16/18yrs 3m springboard winning the prelim with 424.50.
She was edged out of the Gold Medal in the final by Sabrina Beaupre (CAMO) to take silver with Chloe Hurd not far behind in 6th place.

Rebecca Gallantree and Alicia Blagg teamed up for the first time in the Women’s 3m Synchronised event and came away with the bronze medal. After some shaky required’s from the girls, they per-formed well across the optional dives with an excellent 205b scoring 59.40. This event was won by Jennifer Abele and Melanie Rinaldi (CAMO) who finished 4th in this event at the World Championships earlier this year in Rome.
 
A great experience for Rebecca and Alicia who were also closely followed in 4th place by Saffron Sutcliffe and Louise Moran who put in a top class performance.

Helen Galashan and Carol Galashan put in a fantastic synchronised performance on platform to take the sliver medal only 4.35points behind Megan Benfitto and Roslin Filon (CAMO) who took the gold. This was a great confidence booster for the girls performing the new 6243d for 72.96points.Suzanne Collins and Jenny Cowen also put in a superb performance to finish in 4th place only 5points out of the bronze medal.
